Deejay Interview Question:
1)
What was the first opportunity that came along for you,
to remix and actually get into a studio and do a track?
also what was that first opportunity like?
I actually started remixing because i felt most songs
sound much better with a different rythm or beat on
it, so i stepped in to my first studio at Transcontinental
Records. It was very intimidating because all the possible
things you could do with equipment in the studio, but
i settled down and actually made some good remixes my
first time in!
2)
What are some of the hardest lessons you've had to learn
on your road to becoming a successful deejay?
Traveling
is something everyone wants, but when you get it, it
could become very monotanous. Be very friendly to everyone
you can because you never know who you need in life
or your career.
3)
When did you really decide to take on this hobby/ profession
seriously despite the fierce competition and unpredictable
industry?
I actually started taking it seriously when i felt that
i could do very well at it. There came a time when we
had a nice crowd following, and people liked our style,
so i decided to persue it furthur.
4)
What keeps you motivated to do this stuff every weekend
or even every night? Is it the $ or something else?
It
is def competition. When another DJ plays a banging
remix, you always wanna do better. That makes me strive
to do better. But i have always learned there are always
going to be better DJ's out there, so just do your best.
Money is nice too!
5)
How many events have you performed in thus far? And
what type of impact did you have on the event?
We
have played at countless events and i think NMS has
a very different effect in the desi scene. We are trying
to veer away from the normal Hip Hop and get more into
the roots of the indian music styles... Everytime we
play we add a west indian flavor to the party.
6)
What sort of advise would you give a person trying to
find the perfect deejay for their big event?
Dont
be cheap, because the cheaper DJ may not really have
the experience.
7)
Your advice to aspiring Deejays?
Just
practice and practice, and the time will come where
u will be on top.
8)
How did you get involved with this talent?
Just
being around music and DJ's all my life made me wanna
get into the scene...
