Deejay Interview Question:
1) What
was the first opportunity that came along for you, to
remix and actually get into a studio and do a track?
also what was that first opportunity like?
opportunities
have never jus come along to us we go looking for them.
we started out as a dj cru in glasgow promoting our
own club nights and roadshow. studio production developed
over time from throwin together remixes to then composing
beats and droppin pmc our demo tape.
2) What
are some of the hardest lessons you've had to learn
on your road to becoming a successful deejay?
lessons we've learnt r don't trust no
one. everyone is out to make money so u gotta be as
ruthless as everyone else when it comes to business.
its not ego its jus takin care of wots urs and wot u
deserve.
3) When
did you really decide to take on this hobby/ profession
seriously despite the fierce competition and unpredictable
industry?
u kind fall into it if ur thinkin
about it 24/7, its like a love affair for us man. we
eat sleep and breath music so its kind hard to concentrate
on anything else. its like a 'bimari'
4) What
keeps you motivated to do this stuff every weekend or
even every night? Is it the $ or something else?
its gotta be the love of it and
the satisfaction of knowin ur doin something u enjoy
and that ur good at, and jus developin as a person along
with ur music. its definately not the money yo cos we
dont have none!!
5) How
many events have you performed in thus far? And what
type of impact did you have on the event?
events
i have lost count. we travel alot overseas and in the
uk so it hard to keep track fo how many gigs u do off
the top of ur head etc. we bring a sense of realness
and jus raw hip hop desi anthems to the crowd. its a
good feelin when ur testin ur new tunes and they goin
down. plus its our only opportuinty to address the public
since the asian media ie tv aint too hot right now!!!
6) What
sort of advise would you give a person trying to find
the perfect deejay for their big event?
hahahahaha........ i dunno....try
booking us. at this stage we dont offer anything more
than a dj club set or then the full roadshow for parties
and weddings. stage shows will be put together once
we have lauched Bikram Singh NY and the picture for
the future becomes more clearer.
7) Your
advice to aspiring Deejays?
believe in wot u do and practice
ur trade......and make sure u makin money.
8) How
did you get involved with this talent?
its natural for us. we have training
is classical indian music, gurmat sangeet and punjabi
folk. we been listenin to hip hop since time began for
us.
